Children's Ministry
CHAMPs Children's Ministry Leader Judy Rooze
CHAMPs Children’s Ministry exists to allow children to:
C elebrate God,
H elp others,
A dvance in their spiritual maturity,
M ultiply the kingdom of God, and to
P articipate in making Christ-like friendships.
CHAMPs Sunday Celebration Ministry
serves kids from birth - 6th grade. Sunday Celebration is our primary worship service to that age group. The format consist of teaching a provided lesson using various types of media and enhancing the lesson using songs, crafts, and games.
We are currently running three classrooms: AA [birth - 3yrs.], AAA [3 yrs/potty-trained - 5 yrs.], and the Dugout [1st grade - 6th grade].
Interests & Skills:
A love of children in any one or all above age groups.
Teaching or assisting in the classrooms.
Spiritual Gifts:
Any of the following: Helps, Hospitality, Encouragement, Heart for kids
Opportunities to Serve
Sundays: 9:30 a.m. [during 1st service]. Coaches assist the lead teacher.
Sundays: 11:00 a.m. [during 2nd service]. Coaches assist the lead teacher.
Volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of services.

Ministry Description
FBC's CLEANING CREW exists to enhance our church family's worship experience by making sure God's house is clean and neat for Sunday services.
Interests & Skills:
General cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, refilling chair pockets with offering envelopes and other miscellaneous tasks.
Spiritual Gifts:
A Servant's heart and the satisfaction of a clean home, church etc.
Opportunities to Serve
Currently meet at 9:30 on Thursday mornings for about 2 hours. Days and times may be negotiable.
NEW OPPORTUNITY: Sunday Facility Checker: One who checks the restrooms during or just following any one service to be sure they are stocked with paper towels and tissue. Also to pick up any trash on the floor, etc. to keep the facilities clean and neat.

Library
First Baptist Church Library Leader Cay Wenning
The FBC library exists to help church members deepen their walk with God.
The Library is open to all FBC members and has a wide variety of Christian reading material. Included are both fiction and nonfiction, commentaries, study materials, books for teens and a children's section that is still under construction. We are open Sunday mornings from 10:30 to 10:50 and have a staff that is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Also check out our book mobile located out by the community center every Sunday morning. This features books and authors that are currently in our library. If you love to read or study, come see us!

Operation Christmas Child
Each month we will be collecting the following items at the community center. Please place items in the Operation Christmas Child basket.
January:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Leader Cay Wenning
Since 2005 First Baptist church has participated in this ministry that has brought Christmas joy to thousands of children around the world. Each year FBC puts together and collects shoeboxes filled with small items for children in different parts of the world. Each child that receives a shoebox is told the story of Jesus and the cross. It is an easy and effective way of sharing the gospel.
We have two ways that you can participate. You may chose to fill a shoe box on your own and bring it to church in November. (Watch for the exact dates in the FBC newslet0ter, the Source.
If you chose not to do your own shoe box but still want to participate, each month we are collecting different items. A list is available at the community center and you may drop off your items at there.

Ministry Description
FBC's TRASH TO TREASURE Ministry collects plastic bottles and aluminum cans to recycle and then uses the money to purchase groceries for needy individuals and families. We take time to talk with them and pray with them about their situation, if they are willing. Most of the people we serve are low income and many have multiple children. The food is picked up at the ministry leader's home and delivered to those in need.
Delivery times are Monday - Saturday between 9a.m. and 6p.m.
Deliveries are done in pairs and takes about 1-2 hours.
Areas of delivery vary but are limited to Upland, Fontana, & Rancho Cucamonga.

Interest in people, kindness, good listener, compassion, outgoing personality
Heart for the less fortunate
Spiritual Gifts:
Any of the following: Encouragement, Servant's heart

Outreach breakfast offers breakfast to the needy at Upland Memorial Park once a month. Please check the event schedule for dates and times.
This ministries relies on volunteers to serve food and be of service each month. Please call Cathy Schirano or the church office if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
HOPE Pantry is also offered once per month on the church campus. A box of food is offered to families in the community. There is also gently used clothing available.
Our food pantry relies on church volunteers to help organize the food, place the food in boxes and help distribute the food. We also rely on church and community members donating food every month. If you feel God calling you to help in this area, please contact the church office or Cathy Schirano.

FBC prayer team practices intercession with God for anyone who asks.
Our pray team is committed to pray daily for all prayer requests received and is also available for individual prayer at the church Monday mornings from 6am to 7am. If you need someone to pray with you or you want to spend a few moments alone with God before you start your day come join us!
Our Spiritual Warfare Action Team or S.W.A.T. that is dedicated to praying specifically for our church services and pastoral staff is currently inactive. If you would like information about any of the prayer teams please email me at

Women's Ministry
Women's Heart 2 Heart Ministry Leaders Diane Castro and Linda Williams
Women's Ministry Team exists to create events that allow women to fellowship with one another and also to create events that encourage women in the community to become involved. We have monthly events the last Friday of every month. All are wlecome to come and we encourage all to bring friends and family. We are also planning the women's tea even that will be in May. Young at Heart
Young at Heart
Ministry is FBC's ministry to seniors. On the 2nd Tuesday of each month there is a worship service. The service includes singing hymns, worshipping God together and an inspirational message from one of our FBC pastors. Following the service is a festive luncheon with decorated tables, delicious food donated by participants and those with a heart for our seniors, as well as a tremendous amount of fun.
Service Time: 11:30 am - 12:15 pm.
Luncheon: 12:30 to approximately 1:30 pm.
We also make home visits to shut-ins and hospital visits as needed.
Interests & Skills:
A love of seniors, cooking skills, decorating skills

Any of the following: Hospitality, helps, Servant's heart and/or encouragement.

FBC's OUTSIDE GREETERS extend a warm welcome to individuals as they come on our campus. We want to make people feel accepted within our family.
Our INSIDE GREETERS extend a warm welcome to individuals as they wait in the auditorium for the service to begin. Again, we want to make people feel accepted at this time by engaging them in brief conversations as they wait.

Set-Up & Tear Down Team
Ministry Description
FBC's SET UP & TEAR DOWN assists our ministries by setting up tables and canopies as well as video/audio equipment as needed for the Community Center every Sunday as well as setting up rooms for the Core Classes, L.E.A.D. Meetings and other special events. When the services, classes, or events are over, we take down the canopies, tables etc. and put things back where they belong.
Interests & Skills:
Interest in helping set up or tear down to enable ministries to function at their best. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Outgoing personality - team player. Energetic and reliable.

Commmunity Center
Ministry Description
FBC's COMMUNITY CENTER exists to welcome both our church family and visitors on Sunday mornings. We do this by providing refreshments [through our Hospitality Team] and information about what we believe, church activities and ways to get connected. Our information table provides current events and opportunities and our Welcome 1st Time Visitors provides an information packet as well as a gift.
